I grew up and graduated from the same high school that my mother attended. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s so I had many opportunities to participate in “girls” sports. Only one generation before me, my mother had only bowling or cheerleading as girl only sports. Of course she could have participated on the boys teams IF she was “able”. THIS is why Title 9 was so important to girl’s and women’s sports! I was able to attend a D1college on an athletic scholarship. The opportunities I had shaped me in ways far greater than I would have had without them. Protecting women only sport is critical!
