Hello, My name is Anne. I have 3 children. I am an educator. Mostly preschool age but now I work in a public school. Ages [preschool] to 5th grade. My boys were in the system beginning in 2001. Then it was not like this. Although funding was misused. In 2005, my daughter entered public school. I noticed at this time, the change began. More social issues and the schools started making decisions on behalf of our kids. Each year something new was implemented. When social media began, it really began affecting education systems and kids’ lives. This was around 2010. By 2012, we took our daughter out of middle school. Our sons finished their high school years, but those last two years were not good. Many issues with fighting, disrespectful behavior, and social indoctrination. My boys would speak out and the teachers would be terrible to them and others. Even giving a bad grade because they gave a different political or social view. We homeschooled my daughter for 7th and 8th grade. She did online school for 9th grade. We [found] a great charter school [for her] for 10th through 12th grade. My daughter got a far better, well-rounded education because of this choice. Since I am in the system, I constantly see how students and parents are losing any individualism. Any voice. Any choices. The education part is not as important as pushing a social agenda. I am in California. We plan on moving ASAP. I sadly do not want my kids raised in the state. I was educated here and I had a great education. My school district now is terrible. There are low education scores and many do not graduate. California only had 83% of students graduate this year. I find it infuriating that the educational system has become political and the focus is no longer on education. I fully support any alternative parent choices for education.
