As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and retired teacher, I am so sad to see what is happening in our schools around the country. School is supposed to be a safe place where children learn reading, writing, and arithmetic along with being exposed to the sciences, arts, and humanities. They are supposed to be a partner to the parents in raising these children to grow up and be responsible, independent, educated adults who contribute to society in positive ways no matter how small. Politics and religion should not be part of the educational system unless it is taught from all perspectives in a specific class. No teacher should ever impose his/her personal beliefs on any child except their own. All parents should have school choice now more than ever.
