If government schools get money, it should follow the child.

I have been homeschooling for 5 years and, with the pandemic, have become absolutely [against] ever putting my children in a public (government) school. It was always an option, but now it isn’t. I have 2 elementary schools near me. One is Handy and when we drive by going places around noon…the children are masked up sitting at the lunch tables. It is heartbreaking! They aren’t carriers and they are all crammed together with their faces covered. Try to eat their lunch. And the school up the street from my home has kids with masks on sitting 6 feet apart at their desks with huge plastic around 3 sides of their desks. It is ridiculous to see them through the doors, masked behind see-through barriers (which are kept open) and so sad. I pay my tax dollars, plus I’m independent. Which means I use my money from my husband’s income to pay for everything school-related. I am paying twice as much to educate my children at home. Schools are failing, and every parent should have school choice to do whatever is best for their individual child. Whether someone wants public or private education. The reason I don’t use a charter is because the government gives you money (tax dollars) for school which means there is no religious freedom in curriculum choices. Anything that is Christian is purchasable. But you can choose other religions. If government schools get money, it should follow the child. Not be poured into an education system that is failing the kids. The school system isn’t broken. It is doing what it was designed to do. It is designed to indoctrinate, not educate, children.
